welcome

Hi, I’m Nick Carton, a full-stack software engineer with a background in Legal Tech, Bitcoin and building Peer to Peer networks.

Co-Founder of Bitping

About me

I’ve been programming since I was around 9 years old when I started experimenting with BYOND to make an MMO. Afterwards I was immersed in the Nintendo DS homebrew scene and soon afterwards the iOS homebrew/jailbreaking community where I made many long term friends.

Been interested in Bitcoin since around 2015 and dove into development on Bitcoin in 2017 or so. Started work as a contract iOS developer right out of highschool for a lawfirm and was in the LegalTech industry for around 10 years.

Started working on Bitping in 2019 and havent looked back. My goal is to help democratise the global networking data that ISPs have access to while showing the power of micro and nano payments to the world.

Technologies

Over the last 5 years I’ve started specialising in Rust for backend and network development, however I still use Typescript for APIs here and there. I branched off of using React in 2020 and started primarily using Astro + Svelte for building my front ends and using Kubernetes + Terraform for building production infrastructure. I’ve built many cross-cloud architectures and have also dabbled in On-Prem workloads both for work and at home.
